How to update the Update the Single Facer for the Existing Corrugator?

The single facer unit is one of the most important parts of corrugated board production line. It effect a lot on the performance of 2ply single face paper. Nowdays, there are many single facer is kept using the fixed type, which is difficult to change corrugated roll which is required half day or one day to complete the process. But by using the new cassette type single facer with new technology, the corrugated roll change type can shorten in 5 minutes, which is greatly improve the production efficiency.

Actually, while changing the corrugated roll at fixed type single facer, not only spend time on it, but also required skilled person to do it, especially need to measure the gap between corrugated roll and glue roll. Because the diameter of different flute A, B, C, E, F are different, and if we do not adjust the gap, it can not offer good performance on pasting.

We have update many old single facer of Isowa corrugator, Taiwan corrugator, or many domestic made corrugator by our new cassette type single facer.  For example, one successful case for reference, that we have updated the very old isowa single facer which is about 25 years old, 200m/min speed and fixed type, 1800mm width. The customer wants to replace it because the micro flute order is coming, and the exisiting one is A flute, and E flute is quite difficult to change. Customer also want to fasten the speed from 150m/min to 250m/min on producing 3ply board.

To offer best solution to customer, we have suggested to choose our negative cassette type single facer with inner suctin, soft touch technology and LPI (line pressure control) which can easily run micro flute E & F, and C,A. The paper gsm of fluting and liner can use from 40gsm to 400gsm, which can offer more facibility on production. 

The benefit is not only to run different gsm paper or flute type, but also easily handle the glue consumption and synchro glue by soft touch technology. There is no need manual set up the glue gap, while change the corrugated roll, the machine itself will do the adjustment automatically. And the pressure control on pressure roll it can be automatic by LPC technology which can make almost on mark 2ply board, improving the BST performance. By these new technology can save time and reduce the waste and improve the paperboard quality.

While changing the single facer, there is one item need to be careful, which is the 2ply tractor which is used to transit the 2ply from single facer to the bridge. At the old corrugator, it may not useful for the new single facer which we have to prepared it at the machine order. While the open flute paper is transitting on the bridge, it is necessary to make sure that the 2ply paper can be sent forward to the tension control unit. If there is no power transmission on bridge it is hard to stack well paper and run high speed. At the old corrugator, this power transmission is driven by the same motor of 2ply tractor. But the new tractor and bride transmission are usually independent drive, which we must make sure before the installation to avoid the probelm. 

Our negative single facer is driven by servo motor with synchor belt which is more simple and more stable compared with the traditional structure, and saving power consumption. Our corrugated roll is 408/330mm and 495/330mm as option, which can offer 300m/min and 350m/min production speed.
