How to Update the Glue Machine for Old Corrugator?

How to improve the corrugated board performance by updating the new glue machine?

At the beginning that we need to clear the update points, which item you want to improve?

For example,

Item 1: glue consumption control? 

Item 2: corrugated board straighness?

Item 3: speed up?

...

At the old glue machine structure, normally it is usually the rubber roller to do the even the glue on anilox roller, which can be updated to use doctor blade to control glue consumption.

The small press plate is not even on pressure control while changing different width of paper and different flute type. You may face the problem that the glue consumption is not the same or big different on the left, middle, right side, and it is difficult to do adjustment well. Especially when you change the flute type from B or C, or A to run E flute. Actually, by update the press bar with push rod structure to can solve the issue. Nowadays, the paper weight (gsm) is become lower, such as 70, 80 or 90 gsm for fluting paper, if the pressure at glue machine can not control well, it will over press the flute tip and paste more glue on it, which will effect the corrugated board performance, also effect to using more steam to heating to dry the board and speed of machine will be slow down incase the heating plate quantity or performance is not enough. Also, sometimes the edge of board will be over heating and inside fibre was burned and completed losing performance.

While we control well the glue consumption on each points, and synchro gluing on flute tip only, it can not only save glue, but also as steam on double facer. 

Normally, when we speed up the corrugator, we will use less glue consumption compared with running low speed. For running normal paper from 100~150gsm paper at high speed, it is easy. But when you need to handle heavy gsm paper such as 200~300gsm, then it needs better performance corrugator.

At the old corrugator update project, the heating performance on preheater before glue machine may not enough heating for heavy gsm paper to run high speed; Also, the big tank old structure are required higher consumption on steam, and the tank is fixed type. If required to save steam consumption and constant heating on different paper, the new type rotary preheater with angle warp control is important. There you may face an issue that the heating performance for liner paper is not enough, the down warp of corrugated board is happened. At our glue machine, we can add the arc heating plate to solve this issue by friendly way.

While we update the glue machine for old corrugator, we need t understand well the synchro communication way between glue machine and double facer. This is one of the most important to make sure that you can run high performance corrugated board.

At the old double facer, there may using gear rack, or chain, or analog signal, etc. One of our update project that customer is using the very old type by gear rack that connect the double facer to do the speed synchro. At this case, we have add the speed detect device to monitor the speed of cotton belt on double facer, and using the analog singal to do synchro with glue machine. 

While we update the glue machine, there is another point need to communication the corrugator production management system. As you know that if we need to do order change quickly (not by manual), it is necessary to get the order information from ERP then PMS then communicate with glue machine then glue machien can do the automatic adjustment. Because when you run different flute type, different paper, the glue formula and heating performance are different.
